Government-issued utilitywear from the late 1960s.
Olive green uniform jacket made from midweight shiny twill — iconic material of U.S. government fieldwear from the era. Features four external pockets (two chest with Velcro, two lower with buttoned flaps), a sturdy IDEAL aluminum zip under a button placket, and a golden acetate lining with one inside pocket. Lining shows tears in armpit area — photographed, does not affect outer structure.
Produced by Golden Fleece for the U.S. Forest Service or similar state agencies in the late 1960s–early 70s. The material, cut and hardware — including the aluminum IDEAL zipper — point to that transitional pre-nylon era. A striking balance of ruggedness and formal silhouette, true to U.S. field uniforms of the period.
A true staple of institutional Americana.
